Health & Safety

Health and safety is our highest priority. From director and management level to site level and throughout the organization, Brogan Group's Health & Safety policy focuses on the continual improvement of our team's skill set; in particular:
  • Health & Safety Awareness
  • Accident Prevention
  • Personal Development & Training
  • Client Feedback
Our core service relies on customer satisfaction, value for money and the health and safety of our staff. This is made all the more critical by the nature of our business and its continual exposure to working from height, recognised as having the greatest element of risk in the construction sector.

Our commitment to the health, safety and welfare of our staff is continually improved upon and expanded by our ongoing investment in training and in modern, high quality equipment and machinery. One hundred per cent of our site workforce are CSCS and SG4:05 trained.

A key aspect of Brogan Group's health and safety policy is to investigate all accidents and incidents, including near misses. The purpose of the investigation is to identify causation and to establish and enforce measures to prevent re-occurrence. The tone behind these initiatives being one of responsibility and learning and not apportioning blame. Our long term aim is to achieve the lowest possible accident frequency rate (AFR) in the industry. We are well on our way to achieving this aim as we have recently had a record number of months for the beginning of 2010, winning several site safety awards. These have included eight consecutive awards at one of our sites and a Gold Award for our performance on all BAM sites in 2009, among many others.

Brogan Group employs a team of professionally qualified safety advisers, who implement the organisation's comprehensive health and safety management system. This system has recently been certified against BS OHSAS 18001:2007 and marks a significant achievement by the group. Further information can be found from the link at the bottom of this page.

Our management system promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing a framework that allows us to:
  • Assess risks and apply suitable controls
  • Ensure compliance with current and future legislation
  • Define roles, responsibility and subsequent structure
  • Communicate with internal and external customers
  • Provide training, awareness and verify competence
  • Implement controls for the management of operational hazards
  • Publish and test plans for emergency situations
  • Measure and monitor performance
  • Identify areas for continual improvement
Our Health and Safety team incorporates practical scaffolding experience, along with professional health and safety practices. Our Health and Safety personnel coordinate with client personnel throughout the project life-cycle and beyond. This approach allows for continuous development of our collaborative relationship with clients.

Our award winning record within the industry is a direct result of our long term investment and emphasis on training. For further information, please visit our Awards section here.
