Refurbishment of Irish Life Assurance Centre
The Ilac Centre, located on Henry Street is one of Ireland's first large shopping centres. Originally built in the 1980's, the centre has undergone its first major refurbishment. ILAC standing for Irish Life Assurance Corporation, the firm that built it is one of the two shopping malls on Henry Street, Dublin, Republic of Ireland, the other being Jervis Shopping Centre. It has entrances opening onto Henry Street, Parnell Street and Moore Street.
The Ilac Centre houses a wide variety of retail and food outlets, which continued trading throughout the refurbishment; therefore as part of the contract Update Technology were given the task of keeping disturbances to traders to a minimum whilst work continued. Refurbishment of an existing retail centre in the northside of Dublin. Benoy's proposals include the reconfiguration of the shopping malls, the introduction of a new anchor store unit as well as the creation of a multipurpose public square.
The shopping malls are to be re-shaped and heightened with new floors, walls and soft finishes with high quality lighting to compliment full height shopfronts. The entrances will be given increased visual presence with new canopies and signage. Construction began in January 2005 and was completed in December 2006. Update Technology were responsible for the mechanical, electrical and sprinkler installations. Value of the completed works was approximately €9.5 Million.
